Where Do the Ride Fees Go?

About the Alta Alpina Cycling Club

The Alta Alpia Cycling Club is a 501(c) not for profit organization. Our mission is to promote cycling in the Markleeville, Carson Valley, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe region.

The Alta Alpina Challenge: Riding the Wild Sierra event takes place in a remote area with few public services and little infrastructure. Insurance, permits, portable toilets, facility rental, police, emergency services, fuel, and other fixed costs account for the majority of the registration fees. Registration materials, food, and water account for most of the remainder.

Income from this event goes towards other Alta Alpina programs that support cycling in Alta Alpina territory, like our junior race team, NICA MTB junior team, race series, weekend ride series, other special events, and local bicycle advocacy.
