- This is not a race; there is no winner or loser.
- ANSI/Snell-approved helmets must be worn at all times during the ride.
- All riders must pedal a human powered bicycle. No electric assist equipment allowed; and no three wheeled (Tricycle) recumbents allowed, unless handicap, with prior approval from Ride Director.
- All riders must sign the ride waiver at event check-in before starting the ride.
- All riders under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present at check-in to sign a waiver at check-in and must carry a medical release authorizing any needed treatment.
- All adult riders must carry a driver's license or other form of photo ID.
- All riders are responsible for the safety and condition of their bicycles and equipment.
- All riders must check-in at the start and leave Turtle Rock Park during their assigned start time window.
- All riders must respect checkpoint and pit stop opening and closing time as listed in their rider materials. Riders must not arrive at (or bypass) a pit stop or checkpoint before its opening time nor after its closing time.
- Riders heading towards a location that will be closed by the time they arrive must turn around.
- All riders must respect course cut-off times and course closure times as listed in their rider materials. Riders must not proceed beyond a cut-off location after the indicated cut-off time and may not enter a closed portion of the course.
- Riders are expected to attempt only the passes that they registered for. Ride options can be changed by contacting ride organizers.
- Passes must be ridden in the correct order.
- To qualify for a finisher jersey and earn triple crown credit, 8 Pass Challenge riders must stop and follow instruction at all the checkpoints corresponding to the 8 passes (Kingsbury, Luther, Carson, Blue Lakes, Ebbetts East, Ebbetts West, Monitor West, Monitor East) and return to the start without leaving the course or being transported forward on the course by a motor vehicle at any time.
- 8 pass riders still on the course at 9:00pm must ride with CVC compliant lights and reflectors. Lights shall consist of at least one forward pointing white light and at least one rear pointing red light (not flashing). Lights and reflectors must satisfy applicable laws of California and Nevada. Riders must wear at least one reflective ankle band. Riders must not pass designated pace vehicles unless instructed to.
- Riders must wear their assigned rider credentials as instructed at all times. Riders without credentials will not be served at pit stops and will not receive ride credit.
- Private SAG vehicles are prohibited. Riders with private SAGs will be disqualified.
- Riders must carry: Face Covering, Glasses, Spare tube, Patch kit, Pump, Tools, Water bottles, Medical identification, Personal clothing, Photo ID.
- Bicyclists must obey all California and Nevada Vehicle code laws, including obedience of all stop signs and signals. State police and local sheriff departments may cite violators.
- Roads will not be closed. Riders must ride single file and stay to the right. Riders must be courteous to local drivers and respectful of traffic.
- Riders should safely stay as far right as possible and make every effort to allow faster riders to pass; passing on the left only when safe. This is not a race.
- The focus of this event is personal challenge and achievement. No drafting or group riding is permitted.
Riders must remain 10 to 20 seconds apart except when passing.
- To pass (overtake) another rider: (a) conserve energy and prepare for a sprint, (b) close the following distance to no less than 60 feet, (c) wait for a sufficient break in traffic to allow taking the lane to pass, (d) move as far to the left as possible to go around the rider, (e) return to the edge of the roadway 60 feet ahead of the passed rider, (f) maintain your speed to extend your lead on the passed rider to the 10-20 second margin.
- Disqualified riders must surrender their ride credentials.

violation of any rules above or of the California or Nevada vehicle code or for any other reason including the well
being of the rider, other riders, the ride, or the Alta Alpina Cycling Club. The ride director's decision is final!
